JWT has bagged a creative lion. Agnello Dias’ association with the Leo Burnett team has come to an end after 11 years. The Executive Creative Director of Leo Burnett is set to join JWT in August as its Vice-President and Executive Creative Director, and would be working on the agency’s entire brand portfolio from across the country.
Speaking to exchange4media, Dias said, “It’s been 11 years and so it’s time to change. Everything had been going great with Leo Burnett, but I felt that a shift would do me good at this point in time in my career.”
He has worked on almost all brands handled by Leo Burnett, from Bajaj to Thums Up, and Doy to Heinz. The real reason for the shift, as Agnello put it, was the unexpected meeting with Craig Davis, Chief Creative Director, Worldwide, JWT, at the Mumbai Ad Club. The discussion on the vision for JWT inspired Agnello and the meeting resulted in his meeting up with Patrick Pitcher, the Regional Business Head of JWT before the shift happened.
An elated Colwyn Harris, CEO, JWT, said, “We are simply delighted to have him on board. He will be an invaluable asset to us as he has a reputation of being a highly talented and accomplished creative person.”
Agnello Dias has an impressive line-up of awards, and he was Copywriter of the Year at the AAAI awards. “His move will serve JWT as a constant source of motivation and inspiration,” added Colwyn.
For JWT, the move takes their quest to become a creative superpower further. While JWT was elated, Agnello’s only reaction was “Let’s get to work”. So here’s wishing Agnello all the very best in his new assignment, as JWT must be hoping the lion brings in a few Lions for the agency in the years to come.
