Leena Basrur appointed Executive Vice-Chairman of InterDirect Network

Leena Basrur, Managing Director of DIREM Marketing Services (Mumbai) Pvt Ltd, has been appointed Executive Vice-Chairman of InterDirect Network, which now has 28 members covering 31 countries and employing over 900 people.

Pieter Van Den Busken, Executive Chairman of InterDirect Network and one of the founding members, said, “We are very happy to have Leena on board as Executive Vice-Chairman. We all in the InterDirect Network can benefit from her knowledge as direct marketer and as a successful businesswoman. Leena is one of the rare examples in our industry of having a high level of knowledge of her local market and the region, and at the same time having the capability and skills to look at our profession with a global vision. And this is exactly what we need in our network – strong local professionals with a global vision.”

InterDirect Network was established in 1988 by a small number of direct marketing agencies, which had clients with something in common: a need for a network of agencies that could provide specialist help and advice on cross-border DM activity. The success of the original concept has today led to the creation of a highly organised, award-winning creative network. Agency membership is by invitation only, with one member per country.

Said Basur, “It is an honour to be made Executive Vice-Chairman of this prestigious network, and to work closely with Pieter and other members. We have already found our membership to be quite useful, both in terms of exposure to DM in various other countries, and cross-border opportunities. Along with Pieter and the rest of the board, we hope to take the network to newer horizons and create exciting opportunities for the members in the years to come.”

Leading agencies wishing to join have to comply with the Network’s strict selection criteria that include their ability to demonstrate a professional level of DM consultancy from initial strategy to campaign creation and implementation, as well as being able to provide data and online consultancy either as a primary provider or through existing business agreements.

DIREM was the first agency to be invited from Asia. The other members in Asia include Go Direct in Singapore, and Hong Kong-based Direct Marketing International.
