KV Sridhar to join SapientNitro on July 1

KV Sridhar, former Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett India, has ended his tenure at the agency after a period of 23 years. He is joining SapientNitro as Chief Creative Officer India from July 1, 2014. Sridhar, popularly known as Pops, is credited with the emergence of Leo Burnett as a creative powerhouse in India. He has also been very passionate about new media and technology.

On his appointment, Sridhar said, “I am super excited about joining SapientNitro, it allows me to connect with the new generation. This is something completely future facing, there are very few senior guys actually embracing new media today.”

Sridhar’s new role comes as a surprise to the industry, which was expecting him to join a traditional agency.

“I have never done anything that has been expected of me, I want to lead the change; SapientNitro is a beautiful combination of creativity and technology. I don’t compete with my peers; to be ahead of the curve, I compete with the new generation and learn from them,” Sridhar added.

He has been known as one of the leaders within the fraternity who encourages young talent, gives them creative freedom and their place under the spotlight.

Sridhar had started out as a Bollywood film billboard painter and became the Chief Creative Officer, India Sub-Continent of Leo Burnett. Over the years, he helped the agency gain recognition at international awards shows, including Cannes Lions, New York Festival, and local Indian awards. Under his creative leadership, Leo Burnett India went on to win agency of the year in the Leo Burnett global network, twice. He also led the agency to be ranked by Creativity magazine to be among the top 20 creative agencies in the world. Sridhar has also represented the agency on many Indian and international award juries.
