Ibibo Group has announced the appointment of Krishna Motukuri, an Amazon veteran, as Managing Director of its e-commerce businesses. Motukuri was Associate Director at Amazon, where he spent seven years leading teams in a variety of divisions, including search, co-op marketing, global expansion and supply chain. He also co-founded Amazon’s Bangalore center in 2004.
Motukuri left Amazon in 2006 to raise venture-funding and start Ugenie, a next-gen comparison shopping site with offices in Silicon Valley and Bangalore. Ugenie found success with weRead, a pioneering social media app for book lovers on Facebook, and was acquired in 2008 by Lulu.com, the premier global marketplace for new digital content on the Internet.
Motukuri became Senior Vice President of Business Development at Lulu and formed key strategic partnerships with Apple, McGraw Hill, Google and others.
At ibibo Group, Krishna Motukuri will be driving online shopping and classifieds platforms such as tradus.in, tradusads.in, and so on.
“We are very excited to get Krishna on board to partner with us to build out our various e-commerce businesses. Krishna has lots of entrepreneurial and e-commerce experience, which will enable us to further scale our current properties and develop new ones,” said Ashish Kashyap, Group CEO, ibibo Web (P) Ltd.
