JWT appoints Lowe India’s Sabyasachi Mishra as CEO for Vietnam, Indochina

Sabyasachi Mishra comes on board as CEO, JWT Vietnam and Indochina. He takes over from Chris Von Selle, current CEO of JWT Vietnam, who will be moving to Beirut to take on a new assignment with the agency’s Africa operations. This was announced by Michael Maedel, President and CEO of JWT Asia Pacific.

Mishra joins JWT with nearly 20 years of multi-market industry experience, leading brands, businesses, teams, offices and clients across Lowe offices in Asia. Most recently, he was Chief Growth Officer for Lowe India, where he drove business growth for the agency’s India operations. In 2005, Mishra had served as Managing Director of Lowe Vietnam, where he transformed the office into an award winning agency and one of the strongest operations in Lowe’s Asia Pacific network.

Throughout his career, Mishra has helped strategically driving key relationships such as Unilever, Nestlé, Coca Cola, Maruti-Suzuki, Gillette, ITC and Mercedes Benz.

Von Selle started his career 15 years ago with JWT New York. After assignments in Frankfurt and Hamburg, he moved to Asia in 2001, taking the helm at JWT Malaysia, turning the agency into one of the most creative offices in the JWT network. After further assignments in Manila and Dubai, Von Selle moved to Vietnam in 2006, taking the reins at JWT Vietnam. Von Selle’s new assignment will see him assume the role of Chief Operating Officer, JWT Africa, and will be based in Beirut.

Commenting on the appointments, Maedel said, “Chris has done an amazing job in increasing JWT’s footprint and building our reputation in Vietnam. We have big ambitions for our future in Vietnam and Indochina and I am confident Sabyasachi, with his knowledge and expertise in the market, will be able to take the business through the region’s next growth phase.”

Maedel continued, “The appointment of Sabyasachi and movement of Chris to our Africa operations is another reflection of JWT’s dedication to harnessing senior talent who bring broad geographic experience and perspectives and deploying them to our offices around the world. We are very pleased to be able to create a leadership team of this calibre across our network.”

Mishra’s appointment is effective September 15, 2011. He will work together with Von Selle to ensure a smooth transition.
