Jwalant Swaroop named COO-Publishing, Lokmat Media

Lokmat Media has elevated Jwalant Swaroop to be the COO-Publishing of the company. The change will be effective June 1, 2011. In his new role, Swaroop would be based from Mumbai. He would be reporting to the Lokmat Board of Directors.

Speaking to exchange4media on his new role, Swaroop said, “Lokmat is a legacy organisation, and I have been here for a long time. This opportunity will allow me to create a more cohesive work culture and make the company future-ready. We all know these are exciting times for the Indian media industry, and more so for the publishing industry. This role would help me to leverage the strength of the company and achieve the objectives that the board has set for us. I see this as a huge prospect, where I would be able to make the best of the experience I have had with the company, and that I will have as we move forward.”

As is known, in late 2010, the Lokmat group decided to merge its two companies Lokmat Newspapers and Prithvi Prakashan to create a single company - Lokmat Media. Lokmat Media also has presence in the television and cinema domains but publishing is the largest vertical in the group.

Prior to this appointment, Swaroop was Director-Advertising at the company.
