Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has affected a change in the role of its Network Sales Head, Joy Chakraborthy. Apart from giving him complete charge of the revenues of the Group, ZEEL has also given Chakraborthy the responsibilities of subscription revenues. He is now President, Network Sales, and Revenue Head.
Chakraborthy had joined Zee in mid-2005 as EVP, Network Sales. Under his charge, the channel saw two rate hikes in 2006 and further beefing of the sales team. Subscription is an important area for ZEEL. ZEEL Chairman Subhash Chandra had commented at a recent media event that he expected subscription revenue to be 60 per cent and advertising revenue to be 40 per cent in the total ZEEL revenue before 2010.
In his new role, Chakraborthy would have to drive the growth from this avenue as well. Yet another challenge for him is the launch of ZEEL’s second GE channel ZeeNext.
