Initiative appoints V S Mani as vice president, Mumbai

Initiative, Mumbai has a new head with the appointment of V S Mani as vice president. The task that was hitherto being handled by Initiative’s President, Kartik Iyer, will now be handled by Mani, who will report to Iyer. Mani takes charges from January 23, 2006.

Speaking more on the new appointment, Iyer said, “This is an important market and there is much that you are going to hear from us from the Mumbai side of business. A focussed head was required to steer this growth. However, I must tell you that this isn’t a new thought. Initiative has been on a growth graph and a head like this was needed, but we were waiting for the right person rather than take just anybody.”

He further divulged that high on Mani’s immediate mandate was to nurture the Initiative team and focus on the existing businesses, clients. “Mani is a great people manager with excellent business management skills. He has handled large businesses and that added to him being the perfect fit for this responsibility. At present, it is pretty much an open mandate, I want him to take time to settle in and then define the way forward,” Iyer added.

Prior to this, Mani was with Enterprise Nexus as GM, Delhi, before which he was with FCB Ulka. He brings over 13 years of experience with him in the domain, working on brands like Sony, General Motors, Hewlett Packard and Whirlpool among others.
