Indranil Datta roped in as VP and Head of North and East operations of TME

The Media Edge (TME) has appointed Indranil Datta as Vice-President and Head of its North and East operations. Datta, who is joining from January 8, 2007, will be reporting to Anupriya Acharya, President of TME. Prior to joining TME, Datta was with Starcom Worldwide for seven months as Executive Director of its Bangalore operations.

Commenting on Datta’s appointment, Acharya said, “We had been on the lookout for a strong candidate for some time and did not want to compromise on the candidate. Both Delhi and Kolkata are strong and growing markets, and in Indranil we have found a strong committed professional with a proven track record.”

Datta said, “I am excited to be part of TME as it has ambitious growth plans for the future. So far, the company has been known more for its operations in Mumbai, mainly for clients like Colgate Palmolive, Parle, DHL, Tata Motors, Go Air, Yahoo!, etc., and has been ranked among the top three media agencies by the ACNielsen Media Agency track. Now the challenge is to strengthen other offices as well and I am happy to be getting the mandate for two important markets like Delhi and Kolkata.”

Datta’s earlier stints have been with Bates Colombo as a consultant for one year. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice-President with Publicis Groupe-owned ZenithOptimedia for five years. In fact, he was part of the founding team of ZenithOptimedia when the agency was launched in mid-2004. Datta has 17 years’ experience in media with long stints in agencies like Clarion, Lowe, O&M and Zenith. His career spans a cross-section of responsibilities – strategic planning on Unilever brands and setting up ITC AOR in Kolkata, among others.
