Indiatimes restructuring: Mohit Hira made Director, Content & Marketing, Upen Rai is Director, Sales

In a major restructuring exercise, Times Internet Ltd (TIL) has promoted some of its key senior executives as well as reshuffled some responsibilities. Informed sources aver that Dinesh Wadhawan, who joined as CEO a few months ago, effected these changes to check the high attrition rate that TIL has been facing in recent times.

Mohit Hira, previously VP-Marketing, has been promoted as Director, Content & Marketing. Hira will head the overall content and associated properties of Indiatimes. Hira, who was earlier heading brand development for The Economic Times and Navbharat Times, was appointed VP-Marketing for Indiatimes in September 2005.

Upen Roop Rai, post his Zoom tenure as CEO, has been appointed Director, Sales, Indiatimes. He will also continue to head IMSG (Integrated Marketing Solutions Group), which provides one-stop media solutions across all properties of the Times group.

Sanjay Trehan, who was heading broadband with the additional responsibility of content after the departure of Head of Content, Arunava Sinha, has been promoted as VP-Broadband and Web 2.0.

Rajesh Kalra, a former Times hand, has been inducted as Editorial Head. He will be heading the content of Indiatimes.com, TimesofIndia.com and Economictimes.com.

Sharat Dhall, who was heading the e-Commerce division as General Manager, has been promoted as VP, e-Commerce, Indiatimes.

Among the senior hands that TIL has lost over the past few months are Rajesh Sawhney, COO, Content Head Arunava Sinha, Saurabh Sen, Head of Telecom Content; Shekhar Sharma, Business Head, SMS Services, among others. While Sawhney quit last year to join as President, Reliance Entertainment, Sen has joined the ABP Group as its Business Head, Internet & Telecom. Sinha has joined as Executive Editor with India Today magazine while Sharma has moved to the India Today Group as GM, Internet & Telecom.
