India TV makes top-level editorial appointments; Kumar Rajesh joins as Executive Editor

India TV has made some senior level appointments, with Kumar Rajesh from Aaj Tak joining the channel as Executive Editor, while Prashant Tandon and Kishore Kumar Malviya have been appointed as Senior Editors.

Rajesh joined the channel from July 19. He has been working as Senior Special Correspondent and anchor at Aaj Tak since May 2002. He has also worked as Associate Editor and Anchor with Rajat Sharma’s ‘Aaj ki Baat’ between December 1999 and April 2002.

Confirming the appointment, Rajat Sharma, Editor-in-Chief, India TV, said, “We are delighted to welcome Kumar. He has a proven track record with his ideas and energy level. I have no doubt that Kumar’s 14 years in television journalism will be a huge asset in India TV’s next phase of growth.”

Commenting on his new assignment, Rajesh said, “The feeling is wonderful. The entire set up and infrastructure is much more impressive than in my previous organisation. I will try to help the channel to the best of my capacity to push it to the No. 1 spot.”

Tandon, who has joined as Senior Editor (News Gathering), had been with Channel 7 as Senior Editor-News Gathering since February 2005. He had also worked as Senior Producer at STAR News from January 2003 to February 2005.

“Prashant has a rich experience in strategic planning and content management and you can see his impact on India TV’s news gathering operations almost immediately,” Sharma said.

Malviya, who is joining as Senior Editor from July 21, has been Executive Producer, Channel Nepal 1 for over three years. Prior to that, he was Associate Editor at Zee News.

“Kishore brings in all-round skill sets across news gathering and output functions, besides having been out there in sensitive field assignments,” Sharma said.
