India TV appoints Sudipto Chowdhuri as SVP, Sales

Sudipto Chowdhuri has joined India TV as Senior Vice-President, National Sales. He takes over from Gautam Sharma, who recently put in his papers to join the ABP Group. Chowdhuri took charge from January 2, 2013 and is reporting to Ritu Dhawan, Managing Director, India TV.

On his new role, Chowdhuri said, “It’s a great opportunity to work with a very good management and No 1 news channel. It is a very cooperative and experienced team and I am proud to be associated with them. There are different plans for structuring and restructuring the Hindi news genre. We will try to do things in a different way.”

Chowdhuri’s last stint was with TV9, where he was Senior VP - National Sales & Brand Positioning for TV9 Kannada and News9 channels. Commenting on his stint with TV9, he said, “It was a very good experience in TV9, where I got national exposure.”

Chowdhuri comes on board with an experience of close to two decades. He has earlier work with Tata Yellow Pages, India Today, Zee Network, 9X and Star News. He has worked extensively across all markets in the country and is equipped with in-depth knowledge of corporate and retail advertising in both TV and print.
