After being with the WPP Group for 14 years, Balasubramanium V, Global CEO of Meritus, has put in his papers. The development was confirmed by Balasubramanium (or Balu as he is known in the industry) himself. He, however, refrained from revealing his next destination as he is still evaluating his options and is open to staying with a media agency or moving to the client side.

In his 14 years with WPP, Balu has done a stint with JWT in media planning both in Mumbai and Bangalore. Following this, he moved to Ogilvy, where he was responsible for strategic media planning for the country. Later, he played a key role as part of the core team that formed GroupM as well as in the implementation of ATG (Advanced Techniques Group). He also did a stint in China, where he set up the ATG. Balu has also worked with Mudra.

He took over as CEO of Meritus in 2005 at the time of the inception of the company. Meritus specialises in the data analytics space.

Commenting on his stint with Meritus, Balu said, “The run has been good, where we managed to incubate many things and get many bluechip clients on board and set ourselves comfortably on the global map. I am happy that I am moving out at a point when the client and the team are both standing on firm foot.”

It is not yet decided who will take over from Balu at Meritus.
