Balasubramanium V, who recently put in his papers as Global CEO of Meritus, the data analytics firm of WPP Group, is all set to join Reliance ADAG as Group Knowledge Management Head. The development was confirmed by Balasubramanium (or Balu as he is known in the industry). The Knowledge Management initiative is to extract more consumer insights for efficient strategy through analytics.

After 14 years of a remarkable spell with WPP Group, Balu is excited about his new role at ADAG. “I will be acting as a key support to the group’s strategies across all the verticals in this new role created by ADAG. My role is going to be as challenging as it was at Meritus and I am looking forward to it,” he said.

Balasubramanium will be joining ADAG on January 14, 2008, and will be based in Bangalore. “I will be shuttling between Mumbai and Bangalore.”

In his long tenure with WPP, Balu has done a stint with JWT in media planning, both in Mumbai and Bangalore. Following this, he moved to Ogilvy, where he was responsible for strategic media planning nationally. Later, he played a key role as part of the core team that formed GroupM as well as in the implementation of ATG (Advanced Techniques Group). He also did a stint in China, where he set up the ATG. Balu has also worked with Mudra.

He took over as CEO of Meritus in 2005 at the time of its inception. Meritus specialises in the data analytics space.
