After a very short stint of only three months, Vivek Sharma, who had joined rmg david as Managing Partner in March 2005, has put in his papers. Sharma will be joining Mirc Electronics, the owners of the Onida brand, as VP, Marketing, Sales and Services, the position left vacant by V Chandramouli who has moved to Cadbury as Director, Strategy, Innovations and International Business.

Confirming this to exchange4media, Sharma said, “This would be a more challenging role. It is my experience in advertising that has helped me to understand consumer behaviour as well as brands better. I am looking forward to the new assignment.” He is expected to join in a few weeks’ time.

Prior to rmg david, Sharma was with Ogilvy Network as National Head of the Unilever business. Sharma informed that during his Ogilvy stint, he had the chance to work on the Onida account. At rmg david, Sharma was giving cross-category business and marketing perspectives along with key account management skills.

An alumnus of IIM-Bangalore, Sharma began his marketing career with Cadbury India in 1989, where he worked for six years. His Cadbury assignment also included a one-year secondment at Cadbury Schweppes, London.

Sharma then joined Warner Lambert India as marketing head where he oversaw the launch of Clorets in India, in addition to boosting the existing business of Halls and Chiclets. After a four-year stint at Warner Lambert, Sharma switched from marketing to advertising and joined Ogilvy & Mather, Mumbai.

At Ogilvy, he led a portfolio of businesses across various categories on clients such as Cadbury, Hindustan Lever, Asian Pains, Onida & Mattel.
