Imagine appoints Saurabh Tewari as Head of Programming – Fiction

Turner General Entertainment Networks India Ltd. (TGEN) has aggressive growth plans for India. In keeping with its strategy it has appointed Saurabh Tewari as Head of Programming – Fiction of its flagship Hindi GEC, Imagine.

Confirming the development, Harsh Rohatgi, Head Content & Communications said, “These are exciting times for us at Imagine. Post our acquisition by Turner, we are investing aggressively in our content and people. To that end, we are very excited to have Saurabh join the team at this important juncture and we are certain that his experience and understanding of the business and our audience will help us achieve our objective of becoming the leading player in the Hindi GEC space.”

Tewari brings over a decade of experience in the media and entertainment industry. Prior to his move to Imagine, he was Associate Vice President and Creative Director at Colors and played a pivotal role in the launch and subsequent success of the channel.

Talking about his move to Imagine, Tewari said, “I’m excited to join the Imagine family. The channel has a good line up of fiction shows and many exciting plans on the anvil. It’s grown consistently over the past year and I am looking forward to working with the management team to take imagine to a leadership position in this space.”

A Bachelor of Arts from Lucknow University, Tewari began his career directing ad films. Since then he has worked with a variety of television production houses primarily as a writer which have given him a completing understanding of the creative and production business. In 2006, he moved to Zee Telefilms as Assistant Vice-President of Programming for Zee TV where he was instrumental in growing the market share of the channel. In late 2007, he moved to Viacom 18 as a part of the start-up team for the launch of Colors. In his role as Associate Vice President and Creative Director, he played a key role in the launch of the channel and was involved in creating and designing the entire line up of fiction shows for the channel.
