IBD ramps Delhi ops, appoints Akash Sharma as Creative Director

IBD India, the integrated brand development wing of Hakuhodo Percept Company, has roped in Akash Sharma as Creative Director for their Delhi office. Sharma moves in from Rediffusion Y&R, where he was working as Creative Director, Art. He took charge from May 30.

Sharma’s appointment is seen as significant for the company with its Delhi operations witnessing constant growth. With increased product portfolio of Panasonic and accounts like Tupperware in its kitty, the agency has also doubled its strength at its Delhi office.

Commenting on Sharma’s appointment, Rahul Gupta, MD, IBD India, said, “I am really excited about Akash’s appointment as he has a lot of experience behind him and has worked with clients like LG. His expertise will add value to the clients that IBD handles. I believe creativity and credibility are very important in this profession and Akash is a combination of both. As his experience spans 360 degrees, he will be able to use his knowledge to provide holistic communication solution to clients.”

On his new role, Sharma said, “I am really excited to join IBD India and work on internationally recognised brands like Panasonic and a host of others. I am looking forward to doing work that is relevant to my target audiences and win recognition of award juries as well. We are an ambitious bunch here, hungry to do good work.”

Meanwhile, speaking about the new business acquisitions, Gupta added, “We are now handling a larger portfolio of Panasonic. As it plans to become the No. 1 consumer electronics brand in India, our responsibilities would increase. It is an international brand and a coveted account. We have also associated with Tupperware recently. We are working in the hospitality and real estate sectors, so there are lot of things going on at the Delhi office.”

The mandate for Sharma at IBD would be to strengthen creatives, both product and people. He will be responsible for driving creative brand building and delivering big ideas for clients. IBD India plans to fortify its creative output and assure some more out-of-the box solutions to their clients through Sharma’s appointment.

Sharma has more than a decade’s experience in both ATL and BTL spaces. Prior to this, he was in Rediffusion Y&R and Lowe Lintas. He has worked on brands like LG (Home Appliance & Home Entertainment, FPDs), Greenply, Havells, Crabtree, Polo, BILT, and Hajmola, among others.
