HT Media Ltd has made some senior level changes. Rakesh Sharma, who was VP-North, Circulation, has been made Business Head-North & Strategic Initiatives. Venky Venkatesh, who was Regional Manager-North, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, has been brought in as Business Head-Circulation.
In another significant move, both the functions of media marketing and circulation have been consolidated under the leadership of Benoy Roychowdhury, Business Head, Media Marketing. Said HT Media CEO Rajiv Verma, “This is being done for the better synergy of the execution of the two front-end functions of the company.”
Venkatesh has around 26 years of sales and marketing experience and has spent his entire career with Levers. He will report to Roychowdhury.
Sharma will represent HT Media at industry forums, external agencies and government bodies. Said Verma, “Rakesh will continue to lead our North Indian markets of MP, Rajasthan and, most importantly, Punjab, where we need to consolidate our leadership position quickly. In his strategic role, he will plan and execute our entry into new markets.”
Among the other changes, Piyush Shah, who was Business Head-Internet Business, will now lead Internet Mobile Strategy and Technology. He will concentrate in developing the right Internet strategy, put together cutting-edge technology platforms, and tie up with the best technology partners. Said Verma, “This move will enable us to best utilise Piyush’s enormous knowledge in the Internet domain in order to scale up new Internet businesses like classified and others.”
Amit Garg, who was previously Business Head-Hindi, has been made Business Head-Dot Com. He will be responsible for the commercial and business aspects of the Internet business, along with all business aspects of the company’s relationships with technology and content partners. He will continue to head the Hindi business till his successor is announced.
In addition to Sharma, both Shah and Garg will also report to Verma.
