Google beefs up its team in financial services, technology and travel sectors

Google has made some key senior management appointments for its India operations. Sridhar Seshadri has been appointed Business Head-Financial Services, Parminder Singh is Business Head-Technology, while Narasimha Jayakumar has been brought in as Business Head-Travel & Local for its advertising and monetisation business.

The appointment of these senior business executives is part of Google India’s strategy to go deep in the key sectors and deliver significant and measurable growth for customers leveraging the AdWords platform. Industry teams led by these newly appointed leaders will focus on providing counsel to customers regarding their digital, marketing and advertising strategies.

As Business Head-Financial Services, Seshadri will lead a team that will be responsible for the generation of advertising business from the financial services segment and will focus on serving key clients in the banking, insurance, and mutual funds sectors.

As Business Head-Technology, Singh will lead a team that drives Google’s advertising operations in the technology and telecommunications space in India. As Business Head-Travel and Local (which includes classifieds and real estate), Jayakumar will similarly aim to grow Google’s presence in this space.

Commenting on the appointments, Shailesh Rao, Managing Director, Google India, said, “We always seek more ways to create value for our partners and customers. At this stage of our evolution in India, we believe it is critical to bring in senior executives who have the right domain expertise to drive focused growth for Google and our customers in key industry sectors. To create more value for our customers, we want to be able to help them perfect their digital strategies and drive measurable and sustained business growth by leveraging the medium to its fullest using platforms like AdWords across the web, mobile, and potentially other channels in the future. These three individuals, each rising executive stars in their respective industries, represent the perfect blend of industry credibility rooted in real front line experience and a deep understanding of technology and how it will transform these markets for decades to come. We are excited and privileged to have their leadership at Google.”
