GM’s Sumit Sawhney joins Renault as Mktg Head

Renault India has announced the appointment of Sumit Sawhney to spearhead its marketing and sales activities in the Indian market. Sawhney had put in his papers at GM India in August this year after a 12-year stint.

Sawhney, who brings with him 17 years of automotive experience, joins Renault India as Executive Director – Marketing and Sales. He will be based in Chennai and assume charge of Sales and Marketing on November 1. He will report to Marc Nassif, MD, Renault India.

Commenting on the development, Nassif said, “Curran has been instrumental in setting Renault India on a growth trajectory and we fully appreciate his contribution to the company and we wish him the very best for his next assignment. At the same time, we welcome Sawhney to the Renault family. It is time for Renault to localise not only products, but also the talent pool for human resources.”

Sawhney takes over from Len Curran, VP – Marketing and Sales, who is relocating within Renault Group in a new role after completing his assignment in India. Curran had joined Renault India in 2010 and was responsible for sales and marketing activities of the car manufacturer.

Currently, the company sells five models – Fluence, Koleos, Pulse, Duster and the recently launched mid-size sedan, Scala.
