Girish V Rao, VP-Sales and Marketing, LG Electronics India Ltd (LGEIL), has put in his papers. The development was confirmed by Rao himself. It is learnt that Rao is moving to a completely new terrain and will be joining the core sector, in all probability a steel company, as Chief Executive Officer. Rao will also shift his base from Delhi.
On his decision to move, Rao said, “I think this is a natural progression in my career and I take it as a challenge. LG has been a good learning experience.”
Rao has been with LGEIL for the last four years. As VP-Sales and Marketing, he was reporting directly to Managing Director Moon B Shin. Prior to LG, Rao spent close to 20 years at BPL.
It may be recalled that recently, LGEIL had appointed V Ramachandran as Director-Sales and Marketing, a newly created designation, making him the overall head of the sales and marketing activities at the consumer electronics giant. Ramachandran is reporting to the Managing Director directly. Before Ramachandran’s induction, Rao was heading both these functions.
