G Jayalal promoted as Director-General of All India Radio

G Jayalal has been promoted as Director General of All India Radio. He will continue to look after his current responsibility as Deputy Director General - programming, planning, policy, development and commercial. For the last one year, BS Lali. CEO, Prasar Bharati, was holding additional charges as Director-General of AIR.

Jayalal’s promotion is a temporary arrangement made by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and he will hold the Director-General’s post until further orders from the Ministry.

While no time period has been fixed for Jayalal’s tenure as Director-General, the promotion came as this post had been lying vacant for a year.
