Former Radio City Arun Katiyar joins Microland

Early March saw the surprise announcement of Arun Katiyar’s resignation as Head of Station, Radio City, Bangalore. What followed was weeks of speculation regarding his next destination., however, received reports that he had taken a sabbatical from mainstream media and joined Microland. On contacting, Katiyar confirmed the development.

Describing his exit from Radio City as the result of a “cyclic self-evaluation”, Katiyar said: “I had reached a phase when a sabbatical was over due. As I didn’t want to reenter mainstream media post this re-skilling and re-education process, I decided to enter the technology domain which interests me greatly.” The veteran media professional joined Microland last week to lead its growing technological support business as VP (Operations).

While dwelling on his stint in Radio City, Katiyar said the experience was “great”. However, his decision to move on after a span of two years was made at the time when he took over the channel’s Bangalore operations.

Starting his career as a researcher with the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), Katiyar has over 20 years’ exposure to the media industry with stints at various organisations like India Today Group where he served as Editor of two magazines—Bombay and TV Today and, where he served as Executive Vice President for content and services.
