Former India TV Executive Editor Sudhir Chaudhary joins Janmat as Channel Head

Sudhir Chaudhary, former Executive Editor of India TV, has joined Janmat as Channel Head. A senior media personality, Chaudhary will spearhead Janmat’s expansion plans. He will be reporting to Markand Adhikari, group Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Broadcast Initiatives Ltd. After the maiden IPO of Broadcast Initiatives, the parent company running Janmat, the management has chalked out major plans to revamp the channel.

Chaudhary has been in the TV news industry for more than 14 years. He belongs to the first generation of television journalists. After spending almost a decade with Zee News, Chaudhary moved to Sahara Samay National as a senior editorial resource and senior anchor and played a major role in the launch of the channel. From Sahara, he moved to India TV as Executive Editor. At India TV, he used to co-anchor the primetime show, Breaking News, with Rajat Sharma.

Confirming the appointment, Adhikari said, “Sudhir will be responsible for the overall functioning of the channel and his task will be to implement the complete revamp and expansion strategy of the channel.”

Adhikari further said, “Janmat will stick to its unique positioning as a news and views channel which provides a platform to every citizen to express his or her voice. However, after our maiden IPO, we will go in for state-of-the-art studio and technology, which will further sharpen the channel’s niche. The company has plans to establish its bureaus all over the country through an extensive network of live broadcasting systems and OB vans.”

Chaudhary said, “Adhikari Brothers, since the inception of the television industry, have always understood the market gap and have established a niche in the market. I am extremely delighted to join Janmat and consider this to be a great opportunity to turn around the channel and make it a futuristic broadcasting platform.”

Chaudhary added that in another two to three months, “viewers will see Janmat in a new avatar in terms of attractive content and slick production”.
