Event management company Showtime has appointed Ravi Shankar as CEO. Prior to joining Showtime, Shankar was Head of Stakeholder and Strategic Relationship Management Practice at research agency TNS. Shankar joined Showtime from August 1, 2006.
Commenting on Shankar’s appointment, Atri Sengupta, Director, Showtime, said, “We are moving from being just an executing agency to a brand management agency. Event management has evolved as a scientific process of brand management. It is now pretty much measured in absolute numbers. Ravi comes with a strong market research background. He will add immense value to Showtime and its offerings to the clients will be enhanced with the market research experience that he brings to the company.”
Asked what encouraged him to join an event management company, Shankar said, “Event management is an area which is growing as an important part of the media mix of companies when they want to interact with their customers or stakeholders. But this segment has not yet been fully exploited. I see this as an opportunity and my objective at Showtime will be to grow the company’s business and bring much-desired focus that event management deserves.”
Shankar has 17 years of experience in automotive, advertising, airlines and publishing industry. Prior to TNS, he was Senior VP with the Publicis India, where he worked for more than five years.
