Elevations at ZEEL

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) is in the process of completing its annual appraisals, and the organisation has effected changes in three key positions. Joy Chakraborthy (Revenue & Niche Channels), Bharat Ranga (International Operations) and M Venkatraman (Corporate and HR) have all been elevated to Executive Directors.

The team continues to report to Punit Goenka, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ZEEL.

Prior to this, Joy Chakraborthy was Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Operating Officer - Niche Channels. In his role, Chakraborthy had maintained and grown Zee revenues in the face of intense competition. His job responsibility involves maximisation of the company’s value share through ensuring quality service to business constituents, strategising and initiating value innovations. In addition to Media Sales, he is also the business unit head of niche channels, which are the perception driver channels of Zee Network. As is known, Chakraborthy brings over 15 years of experience in strategic media sales across media organisations such as Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. and STAR India.

Bharat Ranga was so far the Chief Operating Officer- International Operations, ZEEL, a position given to him in June 2007. In his role, Ranga is leading and managing Zee’s extensive international business in 167 countries, with offices spread over 15 countries. An old hand at the company, Ranga has been with the organisation since 1998. Prior to this, he was the Business Head for Zee Cinema, Premier, Action, Classic Cinema. Prior to Zee, Ranga was with media organisations such as Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd.

M Venkataraman was the President-Corporate at ZEEL, where he was heading the functions of commercial, Information Technology, operations & infrastructure and broadcasting operations. Venkataraman is now Executive Director – Corporate and HR. He has over 34 years of experience and has been associated with companies such as Deccan Chronicle, Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd. and Diligent Media Corporation Ltd. prior to joining ZEEL. His last assignment was with Dainik Bhaskar Corporation Limited as Executive Director.
