Divya Gururaj made Managing Director of MediaCom, Tarun Nigam to be Delhi Head

Divya Gururaj, General Manager of Mindshare, has been elevated to the post of Managing Director at MediaCom. MediaCom, which was merged in the GroupM structure in India, till recently had two Presidents – Jasmin Sohrabji and Harish Shriyan – who decided to move on. Gururaj, who is slated to take over her new responsibilities by January 2007, would be reporting to Vikram Sakhuja, Group CEO, MediaCom.

Meanwhile, Tarun Nigam, who is currently Senior Business Director handling the Hero Honda account at Maxus, has been brought in to head the Delhi operations of MediaCom. He would be taking over his new responsibilities from February 1, 2007 and would be reporting to Gururaj.

The developments were confirmed by Sakhuja.

It may be recalled that Gururaj was made General Manager at MindShare in February this year after Sunitha Gopalakrishnan shifted base to Jakarta to spearhead the launch of GroupM’s Indonesia operations.

Gururaj had joined MindShare as Business Director in 2004. She began her career in sales with BlowPlast. Then she joined HTA (now JWT) as Media Planner in 1998, before going on to set up Fulcrum in Chennai.

Commenting on his new assignment, Nigam said, “MediaCom is a challenging assignment where I will take my learning forward from GroupM and keep the flag flying high.”

Nigam has earlier worked in MindShare as an Investment Director on Gillette, Ranbaxy and couple of other businesses for close to three years. He had also worked with HTA (now JWT) for one and a half years. Between 1994 and 1999 Nigam was Senior Manager with UTV, Delhi, where he was handling UTV’s acquisition and sales operations.
