Dainik Bhaskar’s Sunil Mutreja puts in his papers, joins ADINC Y&R as CEO from June 1

Sunil Mutreja, who was heading the Rajasthan circle for Dainik Bhaskar, has joined Advertising International Corporation LLC (ADINC) Y&R as CEO from June 1, 2006. Mutreja will be based in Muscat.

ADINC is part of the Omzest Group, formed in 1991 in partnership with US based agency Young & Rubicam. Omzest is one of the largest groups of Oman having 70 group companies ranging from manufacturing, trading to the service industry. Its advertising agency, ADINC, offers complete media solutions, including filmmaking, PR, event management and research.

Mutreja has been involved in all aspects of the media business be it print, television, event management or production houses, except agency business. Elucidating the reason for the shift, Mutreja said, “Though I have been involved with the agency business, I was never associated with one formally. So, directly handling the agency business sounded exciting to me. Moreover, the new assignment will give me an international exposure to my current profile.”

“It will further enhance my skill set in understanding the media business and give me more insight into the advertising business,” he further said.

Mutreja began his career in 1989 with The Times of India. He was involved in the newspaper business for four years before handling Times TV as Associate VP for a year. He also worked with an ad film making company called Channel Nine Entertainment Ltd as CEO before taking up his assignment with Dainik Bhaskar. Mutreja looked after all the functions of Dainik Bhaskar in Rajasthan, wherein he spent around one and a half years with the company.

Commenting on the challenges ahead, Mutreja said, “People in Oman are not that exposed to innovations in the media business, so expanding the market is going to be the biggest challenge.”
