Daily Thanthi Group appoints Narendra Alambara as COO

Narendra Kumar Alambara has assumed charge as COO of Chennai-based Daily Thanthi Group, effective March 5, 2012. He moves from Starcom MediaVest, where he had spent seven years. As Vice President, Alambara’s responsibilities at Starcom MediaVest included managing the Chennai unit with a focus on new business, managing key clients, and revenue growth from traditional and new media opportunities, among others.

Speaking to exchange4media, Alambara remarked, “I am excited about the new challenge and the responsibilities involved. I feel privileged and honoured to be part of an iconic media legacy now expanding into new verticals. My role will evolve into more defined functions over the next few weeks.”

Alambara began his 18-year long career with Profad WCA, moving on to work with agencies such as Lintas/Initiative Media, Euro RSCG/MPG, and the Starcom MediaVest Group. He has been part of the SMG success story in India, kickstarting the Chennai unit in 2005, taking it forward to feature among the top two media planning/ buying agencies in the city. During his stint, the agency acquired key clients, including UniverCell and Hatsun Agro.

Alambara is a Science graduate from PSG, Coimbatore. He holds a PG in Management from BSMED, Coimbatore and completed his EDP from INSEAD, Singapore.
