Umesh Shrikhande has been promoted as CEO of Contract India. With this, Contract has completed changes in its top management, following the appointment of Ravi Deshpande as Chairman and Chief Creative officer, and Jagdip Bakshi moving on to a global role at JWT. Shrikhande has spent more than a decade with Contract.
Confirming the development, Michael Maedel, President, JWT, said, “Umesh is respected for his unrelenting focus on creating a humane and value based organisational culture at Contract, and it is clear that his effort has contributed significantly to the recent successes of the agency.”
Jagdip Bakshi, Global Business Director, Unilever, and the ex-CEO, Contract India, commented, “There is a shared history and commonality of purpose between Umesh and Ravi. Shirkhande has worked closely with divisions at Contract in the areas of design, direct, and digital to enhance traditional advertising. He has vast experience, having worked on the planning and implementation of brand strategies for a wide variety of clients such as HSBC, Cadbury, Asian Paints, Shoppers Stop, Philips, VIP, Bajaj Auto, BBC World, Aegon-Religare, Tata Indicom, Disney, Zoom, DNA, and Grasim, among others.
Shirkhande has also been part of the Bombay Ad Club man-com and Effie’s judging committees over the last two yearsAt present, he is a member of the Consumer Complaints Council of the Advertising Standards Council of India.
