Biswajit Pandey quits as Aircel Marketing Head, to join the retail sector

Biswajit Pandey, Marketing Head, Aircel, has put in his papers. Though he has not disclosed his next destination, it is known that he is headed for the retail sector. At Aircel, he was in charge of the northern and eastern operations and was instrumental in launching the company’s cellular services in Assam, West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir.

Commenting on the change, Pandey said, “It was great working at Aircel. But I wanted to join the retail sector because the real action is happening there; it is the next big thing after telecom and IT.”

Pandey has 14 years of experience in marketing. He has worked with agencies like Dentsu as General Manager for one year, and Lintas as Senior Brand Services Director, among others. Prior to that, he had worked in Rediffusion for four years. He has handled well-known accounts such as Maruti, Sony Ericsson, Vatika Group and Canon.

Aircel is owned by Malaysian telecom company Maxis Communications Berhad. At present, its cellular services are operational in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Orissa, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir. The company is in the process of launching mobile services in Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh (east and west).
