Bikash Banerjee replaces Harrish Bhatia at Bhaskar as Business Head-West & South

Harrish Bhatia, Vice President-Sales and Marketing, Bhaskar Group, has moved to MYFM as Senior Vice-President and Business Group Head of Synergy Media, a Bhaskar Group company. Bikash Banerjee has joined the Bhaskar Group as Business Head-West and South India, replacing Bhatia.

Bhatia is an old hand at Bhaskar Group. He is credited with the launch of Divya Bhaskar in Gujarat in 2003. Since 2005, he has been in Mumbai as Vice President-Sales and Marketing for South and West. An official communiqué quoted that during his tenure at Mumbai, the business showed tremendous growth.

Speaking on the move, Pawan Agarwal, Director, Bhaskar Group, said, “Harrish Bhatia is a senior hand and is expected to bring his youthful experience and ideation to the venture. This is a senior responsibility and it now lies on his capable shoulders.”

Bhatia sees the new assignment as a great opportunity and responsibility that the group has entrusted upon him. According to him, this is the new emerging medium where the group has ambitious future plans. He sees this as expanding his role by experimenting and getting exposed to a new medium. This is a medium of ideas and experimentation where the past experience is good for the foundation and the bouncing board, but there is scope for fresh rules to be written. This is the aspect of the radio business that really excites Bhatia.

Bhaskar Group, through SMIL, has currently license for 17 stations. Jaipur, Chandiagrh, Jalandhar are already operating and Bhopal is soon to be launched.

On the other hand, as Business Head, Bikash Banerjee would be responsible for marketing, sales and revenues of group publications. He will be based in Mumbai. Banerjee said, “I am delighted to join the group. The job is challenging, but with my experience and the outstanding track record of the group, I am sure of achieving great results.”

Banerjee brings in 20 years of experience in marketing and sales. Prior to joining the Bhaskar Group, he worked with ABP, Vibrant Media (joint venture of ABCL & Mudra) and Business Standard.


Kranti Gada joined the family business at Shemaroo in 2006 after a successful stint of over two years in marketing at Pepsi Co. She has been associated with the company for 12 years.
