Big FM appoints Archana Vohra as Director-Big Digital

Big FM has appointed Archana Vohra as Director-Big Digital. In her new role, Vohra will be leading the digital business, which includes all Internet properties, the short-code 55454, and the company’s digital and online music foray. Vohra will be reporting to Soumen Choudhury, CTO, Big FM. Prior to joining Big FM, Vohra was COO of NDTV Convergence. An official communiqué noted that the digital arm of Big FM has some ambitious plans in the music space and will be making some major forays in this space over the next few months.

Commenting on her appointment, Vohra observed that the Internet is a great medium and that one can learn something new about the business everyday. “NDTV was a great learning experience, and now Big Digital, with its huge repository of content and youth centric-user base, is the ideal platform to build fantastic products for webizens.”

Announcing her team, Vohra said, “Kshitij Karnad currently looks after the mobile business and is a domain expert, while Anisha Khanna brings to the table over 10 years of expertise in the music and media space.”

Speaking on Vohra’s appointment, Choudhury noted, “As we look at a 360-degree approach to the radio business, the digital business plays an extremely vital role – whether it is the Internet, the short-code or the other music forays. Given the importance of the function, we are very happy to have Archana at the helm of the activities.”

At NDTV Convergence, Vohra was involved in creating the group web portals, and developing over 15 associated web sites. She has an in-depth understanding of the digital and mobile media, and has provided strategic direction in launching and managing several convergence initiatives including mobile VAS (voice and text over 6388), live broadband, communities, Web 2.0, e-commerce and broadband.
