Bhushan Khot appointed VP & Business Head of Zee’s Marathi news channel Zee 24 Taas

Bhushan Khot has joined Zee News as Vice-President and Business Head for their Marathi news channel, Zee 24 Taas. He will be reporting to Barun Das, CEO, Zee News. Khot took charge from July 3. Prior to Zee, he was with Times Group, heading the language brand team of BCCL.

Commenting on Khot’s appointment, Barun Das said, “Zee 24 Taas quite often leads the pack, according to TAM numbers. However, the proof of success of any media brand is in its profitability and that’s what we believe. We wish to follow up our success story of 24 Ghanta, our Bengali news channel, which broke even by the 24th month of its operation, with similar results for Zee 24 Taas. Bhushan, as the Business Head, would spearhead our various initiatives and we welcome him on board.”

On his new assignment, Khot said, “I have expertise in language as a medium, and this new assignment is a good challenge for me to revamp Zee 24 Taas. This will give me an opportunity to market the regional language channel in a better way.”

Khot has 15 years’ experience, of which he spent seven years in Times Group, where he was responsible for brands like Maharashtra Times and Navbharat Times. Khot claimed that when he joined the Times Group in 2001, Maharashtra Times had a readership of less than 6 lakh, but it went on to touch a readership of 1 million last year and become the No. 1 language brand in Mumbai city. “I was heading the brand team and was also involved in revamping Maharashtra Times in a big way. Major revamping happened after I joined; we launched various editions, there was launch of city-centric supplements on the lines of Bombay Times and so on,” he claimed.

Prior to Times Group, Khot was with Art Advertising as Client Servicing Head. He had earlier worked with hair oil brand Coco Care (which was later sold to Hindustan Unilever) as Brand Manager; market research firm MFO MBL as research executive; and pharma company Cipla Ltd as management trainee.
