Ben Heo, Managing Director, Cheil India, the advertising subsidiary of the Samsung Group, is heading for the US from March. He will be leading the agency’s North American operations as President, Cheil Communications. G S Ryu, who comes in from South Korea, is replacing Heo in India.
Ben takes with him seven years’ experience in a diverse market like India, which will come in handy in a vast and multicultural environment as the US.
Confirming the development, Ben said, “I am happy to shift base to the US. It is a challenge for me, but at the same time will allow me to help the North American operations grow further. I will be overseeing the Chinese, North American and Mexican markets. I will be heading a team of around 150 people in my new role.”
Ben has worked with Cheil Communications for over 14 years. He had started his career with Guson-Grey, affiliated to Grey Korean Company for four and a half years.
Cheil entered India five years ago to liaison between Samsung and its agencies. Its India operations have since won the Rs 200-crore Samsung account, which includes IT, telecom, audio, television, home appliances and air-conditioner segments.
Cheil is an integrated communications company involved in a wide range of activities, including advertising planning and production, sales promotion, sporting events, large-scale promotional events, Internet marketing and PR. Cheil has a global relationship with Samsung and operates as a single vendor for all Samsung’s above-the-line and below-the-line communication needs.
