BBDO India ropes in Sangeet Pillai as Planning Director

BBDO India, an Omnicom company, has announced the appointment of Sangeet Pillai as Planning Director. Pillai, who took charge from this week, would be based in Mumbai. He joins BBDO India from BBDO New York, where he had held the position of Senior Vice-President/Senior Account Planner for the past three and a half years. At BBDO New York, Pillai had held a global planning role on Procter & Gamble’s Gillette brand and was also a lead planner on the AT&T/Cingular Wireless account.

Commenting on Pillai’s appointment, Chris Thomas, Chairman & CEO, BBDO & Proximity Asia Pacific, said, “Sangeet’s appointment is another great example of leveraging talent across the BBDO network. He has a deep understanding of the network, solid global planning skills and is highly experienced in leading developing markets. Sangeet will lead the global planning for emerging markets on Procter & Gamble’s Gillette brand while managing the planning for other projects in Mumbai.”

On his role in India, Pillai said, “I am very excited about my transfer to BBDO India. I’m looking forward to establishing an exceptional planning team and delivering world class work that builds our clients’ business and gets international recognition.”

Prior to joining BBDO, Pillai had spent eight years with the Leo Burnett Company in Chicago and Singapore, where he led the planning and strategy development for a diverse client list, including Disney Corporation, Coca-Cola Asia-Pacific, Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore Telecom and Heidelberg.
