BAG names Programming Head, Creative Director & Distribution Head for its glamour channel

BAG Films & Media has appointed Gursheel Walia as Programming Head, Mushtaq Shiekh as Creative Director for the upcoming glamour channel and Atul Gupta as Distribution Head.

Walia has previously worked with Star Plus and Sony. She was associated with popular shows like ‘Jassi Jaisa Koi Nahi’ and ‘Yeh Meri Life Hai’ aired in Sony. She has also created and promoted many prime time shows, afternoon programming and events like Screen awards, Filmfare awards, etc. Said Walia about her new role, “I am looking forward to designing a channel and creating shows in the non-fiction space as I feel it would be an enriching challenge".

“We are confident that Gursheel’s contribution would strengthen the company’s upcoming glamour channel’s programming and make it a successful launch,” said Anurradha Prasad, Managing Director, BAG Films & Media.

Mushtaq Shiekh, on the other hand, started his career as a journalist. He also scripted a biography of Shahrukh Khan titled ‘Still Reading Khan’. His first brush with the film industry was as a cub reporter with G magazine at the age of just 16. He later moved on to become a successful scriptwriter. He has scripted for serials like ‘Kahin Toh Hoga’, ‘K Street Pali Hill’, ‘Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat’ and ‘Khaanii Ghar Ghar Ki’.

“Movies, television, media and passion for all of them rolled into one conjures one name, which is that of our Creative Director Mushtaq Shiekh,” Prasad commented.

Atul Gupta was heading distribution for IBN7 prior to joining BAG. He has also headed Sadhna TV nationally and MTV regionally. Gupta started his career with Sony Entertainment Television and later as a member of the core team, was instrumental in launching AXN and SET MAX in Asia. “With his amazing track record over 14 years and his grip on the distribution network including technology implications, Atul is going to help BAG Films & Media make their channel launch a great success,” added Prasad.

Gupta said he is “ready and excited to take on the challenge of launching multiple channels and FM and sees endless possibilities through these synergies to dominate Indian eyes and ears”.
