Atul Gupta, Marketing Head, Yamaha Motor India, has quit. As Associate VP-Sales & Marketing, he worked with Yamaha for two and a half years. He is expected to finalise his next assignment within the next 15 days.
Under Gupta as AVP, Sales & Marketing, the two-wheeler major had chalked out an aggressive growth plan. When contacted, Gupta said, “I am basically moving for better career opportunities. I will be joining the automobile industry definitely. My experience of working in Yamaha has been great. We have been able to increase our market share by 1 per cent to achieve a 5 per cent share. Yamaha has grown 35 per cent compared to the industry growth of just 17 per cent.”
Gupta, who began his career in 1984 with Escorts Ltd, has 22 years’ experience in the two-wheeler industry. In 1986, he moved to TVS Motors, where he stayed for a decade, before moving to HFCL in 1996. Gupta joined Yamaha in 2004 as Chief General Manager and assumed his current post of Associate Vice-President, Sales & Marketing earlier this year.
