There will be a change in the leadership of India Today Group’s special business unit, Reader’s Digest, from September 1, 2007. Ashutosh Bishnoi, who currently heads this business as Publishing Director, is moving on to other opportunities. The development has been confirmed by Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group. Bagga added, “We have identified a replacement who will be joining us soon, but I cannot divulge more at present.”
In the meantime, till the new business head takes over, Ashish Chadha, Associate Publisher, would be overall in-charge of the magazine business. Similarly, Manas Mohan will be acting head of the Book & Home Entertainment (BHE) business. Both will report to Bagga.
Another related development in the group is that of Errick D’Suuza, GM Impact (West & South) taking over as National Head of Impact from September 1, 2007. In this new role D’Suuza will continue to report to Chadha.
Speaking on Bishnoi’s stint at Reader’s Digest, Bagga said, “I wish to place on record the fine work that the RD team has done under the leadership of Ashutosh. And I feel confident that the team will use this transition opportunity to prove their mettle and improve upon an already well performing business.”
Details on Bishnoi’s next assignment were not known at the time of filing the report, but it is reliably learnt that he is returning to the financial sector. Prior to his foray into the publishing business in 2005, Bishnoi was Executive Director and Chief Marketing Officer of UTI Mutual Fund. Earlier, he was Head of Marketing and Group Sales at Om Kotak Life Insurance Company. He was also CEO and President of JM Mutual Fund and Head of Sales and Marketing at DSP Merrill Lynch. He has also worked in a number of advertising agencies like JWT India and Trikaya Grey.
Bishnoi has authored course material for marketing in financial services and insurance for the Indian Institute of Bankers.
