Arvind Mediratta quits Whirpool to join Yum Restaurants

After serving two years as Whirlpool India's VP Marketing, Arvind Mediratta has put in his papers to join Yum Restaurants as the Chief Marketing Officer. His new responsibilities entail looking after KFC and Pizza Hut in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius.

Confirming the development, Sandeep Kohli, Managing Director, Yum Restaurants International, said, "Arvind is coming on board from June 1, 2005."

Chief Marketing Officer is a new position that has been created. And, the Marketing Heads of Pizza Hut and KFC will be reporting to Chief Marketing Officer.

Mediratta said, "Whirlpool is a great company and has been a great place to work. The company is on a turnaround path and has witnessed a growth in market share in most categories. It's marketing team and strategies are firmly in place and one movement will not affect the company's working. As for my new role, I feel there is a lot of scope of innovation in the fast food category and I am looking forward to my new assignment."

To fill in the position vacated by Mediratta, Whirlpool is looking at internal talent. In addition, Nirupam Sahay, Director-Marketing Services of Whirlpool, is also moving to join GE as the Assistant Vice President in the SBI Card marketing team. .
