Anurag Gupta, Head of Indiatimes’ subscription business, has put in his papers. He is joining online interactive agency Mediaturf as its Executive Vice-President and Director in the third week of July.
During his four-year stint with Indiatimes, Gupta was instrumental in creating and driving its subscriptions business. More recently, he led Indiatimes’ foray into e-learning with the launch of www.testcentre.indiatimes.com.
An MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad, Gupta has experience across diverse industries including FMCG, office automation, stock broking, media and the Internet. Prior to joining Indiatimes, Gupta was with a Pune-based yellow page company, Indiacom Directories, for two years heading its marketing and Internet business.
At Mediaturf, Gupta will have the two-fold responsibility of taking the existing business to the next level and getting into the new businesses. Mediaturf is reportedly foraying into mobile marketing, search marketing, retail advertisement, and trade advertisement solutions, among others.
Speaking about the appointment, V Ramani, CEO, Mediaturf, said, “This was a big hunt and after interviewing many candidates, I decided on Anurag Gupta. When we met, we did not discuss like in normal meetings. We started with assuming that we are together and what we can do jointly, what is the next level of inflexion, etc. I had a certain impression of the person who could be my partner in the organisatiion and I found that in Anurag. I am very excited about having Anurag in my team and am looking forward to do many new things with him in the coming days.”
Commenting on his new assignment, Gupta said, “I am really excited about the opportunity to work with Mediaturf in a senior strategic and operational role.
