Anil Srivatsa quits Meow FM as COO

Anil Srivatsa, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Radio Today Broadcasting Ltd, the FM radio arm of the India Today Group, has put in his papers. Srivatsa has cited personal reasons for his decision to move out of Meow FM. June 1, 2009 was his last day with the organisation.

Confirming the news, Srivatsa said, “I’ve had a recent emergency in my family and I have decided to move on and spend some time with them in Bangalore, but will continue to explore similar challenging assignments within the entertainment and media space. I am sure I will have some news to share on what my next move will be soon. I thank all for making my return to the entertainment and media industry in India very eventful and challenging and look forward to working with the fraternity again, while I take away fond memories of my time with the India Today Group.”

While Anil Mehra, Director Radio Today Broadcasting, declined to comment on who would replace Srivatsa, Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group, was unavailable for any comments despite repeated attempts.

Prior to joining Meow FM, Srivatsa was Executive Vice-President with ImaginAsian Entertainment Inc, a US-based entertainment company. With a career spanning more than 17 years, Srivatsa had also served as CEO (USA) and Head of International Marketing Operations at RTV UK, where he successfully launched several South Asian networks in Europe and the Middle East. Prior to his stint at RTV UK, Srivatsa was Director of Cricket and South Asian Programming at Kelly Broadcasting, where he oversaw the creation and development of the Cricket Channel.

Srivatsa had done his MSc in Telecommunications from Kutztown University and has a BA degree in Criminology, Public Administration, and Journalism from Mysore University.
