Amrita Chugh joins RK Swamy BBDO Bangalore as Senior Partner

RK Swamy BBDO Bangalore has appointed Amrita Chugh as Senior Partner. She takes over from Arun Kumar, who will now focus full time on HR Direction, the agency’s specialist division handling HR related communications in India and other world wide markets. She was last pursuing her other passion – a real estate project in Goa.

Commenting on Chugh’s appointment, VV Vijay Gopal, President South, RK Swamy BBDO, said, “Amrita is a consummate professional with a great variety of international and local experience. She has a proven track record in successfully managing diverse business environments and we are delighted to have her on board as we raise the bar significantly on our presence and participation in the Bangalore market.”

Chugh said, “I am delighted to be a part of RK Swamy BBDO’s plan in establishing a much stronger presence in the Bangalore market. I look forward to proactively participating in its future growth and success.”

Chugh, who has 20 years’ experience in the advertising and communications business in the US and India, began her career in the mid-eighties with DDB Needham Chicago, USA, and gained valuable experience on a host of blue chip clients like General Mills, P&G, Kraft Food, and Anhauser Busch. She was a key player in the DDB team that launched the highly successful Discover Card and utilised that experience in her next move to Citibank, where she managed, and eventually headed, global communications for the International division of Diners Club.

After a six-year stint with Citibank, she moved to India for four years and headed MAA Bozell in Chennai. Key clients included E.I. DuPont, TTK-LIG, Sara Lee/TTK and Caltex Spic. On her return to the US, she rejoined DDB Needham and then added a new dimension to her career as GM of global expansions for People PC Inc. In this capacity, she managed a team of regional project managers, planned growth strategies and implemented development of start-up operations outside the US.

In 2003, Chugh returned to India and set up home in Bangalore. She joined Bates Enterprise in 2004 as Vice-President and General Manager of its Bangalore operations. Key clients included Titan (Xylys), Titan Retail, Taj Hotels (Bangalore), Weekender brand and retail.
