Amit Ray to join B.A.G. Films as Head of Business Development & Strategic Planning

Amit Ray, Director, Strategic Planning and Business Development, Percept Communications has put in his papers. He is joining B.A.G. Films and Media Pvt Ltd as Head of Business Development and Strategic Planning. He had joined Percept Communications in February 2007.

Highly placed sources in the company have confirmed his appointment. Ray would be reporting to Anurradha Prasad, Managing Director, B.A.G. Films and Media. It is not known yet whether Ray would be based in Mumbai or Delhi.

Ray has 18 years’ experience, which also includes stints with advertising agencies. He has been into advertising since 1988, and out of the 18 years has been based in Mumbai for 14 years.

Ray began his career in advertising with Tara Sinha Associates in Kolkata in 1988 as Media Executive, Planning and Operations. After one year Ray moved on to join Lintas Mumbai (now Lowe), where he worked for a year.

He then joined Clarion-Mumbai (now Bates) in January 1991 and worked there for four years in different capacities of Senior Media Supervisor and then Associate Media Director. In 1994 he joined HTA Bangalore (now JWT) and worked for around eight months as Associate Media Director and then Media Director.

Ray joined Mudra Mumbai in September 1995 and worked in different capacities of Associate Vice-President, Vice-President, and Executive Vice-President. He continued there till January 2005.

Ray later joined Reliance Industries in February 2005 and worked there for a year before joining Percept Communications.

During the course of his career, Ray has handled the businesses of companies like Hutchison (Orange), Godrej Soaps, Hindustan Levers (Raid), Kinetic & Kinetic Honda, HSBC, Cadbury Schweppes, J & J, Zenith Computers, Servo from IndianOil, LIC and Hindustan Petroleum. Wipro, TTK (the Sara Lee part), ACER, Kingfisher, McDowell and Smithkline Beecham, among others.
