Amit Garg, Business Manager, Nokia, is joining Hindustan Times as Associate Vice-president, Marketing, from January 3, 2005. He will be reporting to Anand Bhardwaj, Vice-president, Marketing, HT Media Limited.
Confirming the news, Bhardwaj said, “Garg will be one of my senior-most resources. We are working out his specific functions.”
It maybe recalled, Hindustan Times plans to launch its Mumbai edition sometime next year, and marketing will play a significant role in its success in view of the fact that Mumbai is widely recognized as The Times of India territory.
At Nokia, Garg was in the imaging business unit within the multimedia division, reporting to Gautam Advani, Country Director, Multimedia Division. He has spent just less than a year at Nokia.
Prior to Nokia, Garg had worked with Whirlpool for four years in sales and marketing functions. Before that he was with Asian Paints, also in sales and marketing, for five years. He is an IIM-Lucknow graduate.
