Indian Express has been beefing up its sales and marketing team of late. Close on the heels of Rajiv Jaitly joining the group as President – Marketing, Alok Srivastava has been roped in as National Head - Sales and Distribution. Prior to joining Express, Srivastava was heading sales at Ranbaxy Laboratories’ consumer health care division.
Confirming the news, Geetanjali Pandit Gupta, Head of HR, Indian Express, said, “Srivastava has joined us from today and will be leading a very critical function of sales and distributions, which is critical for every print player.”
On his move from FMCG to media, Srivastava said, “Newspapers to me are quite like FMCG products. It is a daily need of consumers and the channel for distribution and sales is quite similar. I choose Indian Express because it’s a good product, all it needs is a little push for it to stand up as a brand as it was in its hay days. I am glad to take up this challenge and am sure that with the right marketing and distribution it will go way ahead.”
Srivastava has 19 years’ experience in the consumer goods sector and has been associated with companies like Unilever, Coca-Cola, ConAgra Foods and SabMiller.
