Alok Sanwal of GroupM set to join Channel 7 as Vice-President, Marketing

Alok Sanwal of GroupM, Delhi, is learnt to have put in his papers. He is on his way to joining Channel 7 as Vice-President, Marketing. When contacted, Channel 7 Director, Siddharth Gupta, confirmed the development. Sanwal’s new role would involve advertising, communication and brand development. He will be doing collaborations, communication within and outside the organisation, barter and research.

Said Gupta, “Alok brings with him an immense skill set. In a cluttered market, it will help give Channel 7 a unique identity. He will be able to challenge the competition and put Channel 7 in the top spot.”

Gupta added that Sanwal, having worked with the Jagran Group previously, “is an additional benefit as that will help build healthy synergies with Dainik Jagran. There is no person better than him who understands Dainik Jagran.”

Sanwal could not be contacted at the time of putting out the news.

Sanwal has been with GroupM for two years as an Investment Director. He is handling all non-television products like cable, radio, print, etc. As a central resource of GroupM based in Delhi, he is responsible for all investments of GroupM agencies.

Before GroupM, Sanwal had worked for Dainik Jagran for six years as General Manager. He was responsible for brand development for the Jagran Group. Before that he had worked for three and a half years with an engineering firm. He is a postgraduate from BITS Pilani.
