Alok Bharadwaj, who was VP, has been promoted as Senior Vice-President at Canon India. The announcement was made last week in Kota Kinabalu in East Malaysia at Canon Asia 2008 by Canon Asia headquarters. He will continue reporting to Canon India President and CEO, Kensaku Konishi.
Said Bharadwaj, “My new role will be to widen all the five divisions of Canon India.
Till now, we had four divisions here, but now have started a new division called Corporate Sales. This division has been formed for corporate imaging and information products. Earlier, we weren’t connected with the top 100 corporates. Now, we have created posts of assistant directors to handle the top 100 accounts directly for consumer imaging products. These 100 establishments have revenues of more than Rs 20,000 crore each and we want to target them.”
Bharadwaj further explained that these organisations were adopting international business practices and rapidly scaling up. “They are acquiring products with the latest technology, and it is important for Canon to understand their requirements directly. We are establishing operations in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore for Corporate Sales,” he said.
“All the five divisional directors will report to me. We are expanding our total sales and marketing force in 2008 to around 350 people across these five divisions,” said Bharadwaj.
The four existing divisions are image communication products division focusing on handling camera products; the consumer system products division that handles printer and IT peripherals; business imaging solutions division handling copier and office automation; and direct sales operation division looking after enterprise solutions and high-end multi-functional products.
