Albert Almeida joins Hungama Mobile as COO

Albert Almeida has joined digital and mobile entertainment company Hungama Digital Media as Chief Operating Officer for their Mobile Business. Till recently, Almeida was Executive Vice President and Business Head of Sony Entertainment Television (SET). He will be responsible for Hungama’s domestic and international mobile business covering entertainment, platforms and applications businesses.

Almeida will be working closely with Neeraj Roy, Managing Director & CEO, Hungama Digital Media.

He had spent six years with SET in various roles ranging from Head of Marketing to Business Head of Max, their movies and events channel. Prior to that, Almeida had spent 14 years in advertising and marketing, where he was Vice President and Regional Account Director at JWT, having worked in Mumbai and New York.

In a prepared statement, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Chairman, Board of Directors, Hungama Digital Media, said, “Mobile entertainment is at an inflection point, with more people across the world consuming entertainment content digitally. With Albert’s vast and diverse experience in the entertainment and marketing spheres, he would be an asset to Hungama and its partners across the world.”

Commenting on the new appointment, Neeraj Roy said, “Albert comes with extensive experience across media, entertainment, and marketing, which are integral to the convergence opportunity that lies ahead for our company. He has managed businesses and teams in local and international markets very effectively and has been an inspirational leader to the businesses he has served.
