Abhijit Saxena designated Business Head, Zee TV

Finally the void is filled. Zee TV has a new Business Head in Abhijit Saxena, who currently heads Zee MGM, Zee English, Trendz and other niche channels from Zee Network. The position was vacant since Sunil Khanna’s departure a couple of months back and speculation was rife about who would head Zee TV.

Putting all speculation to rest, Saxena said, “I would be taking over the Business Head’s responsibility, but at the same time I would continue to oversee my present work area as well.” Independent charge of various responsibilities being undertaken by Saxena till now is being assigned to individuals who would be reporting in to him.

Subhash Chandra, Chairman & Managing Director, Zee Telefilms, said Saxena had contributed immensely to the development of the channel and after eight years of service he was ready to take on this important position.

As to what would be his immediate focus in his new role, Saxena states, “Though it is too early to talk about plans and strategies, initially I plan to listen a lot. On the basis of what the internal and external comments are, we would plan our further strategies.”

Saxena has handled various departments like marketing services, exposure sales and international ad sales. He also launched Zee’s business operations in the US, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, besides launching channels like Smile TV, Action, Classic and Premier. He was also instrumental in the launch of a separate channel for Singapore. Saxena handles advertising sales from India for overseas channels and advertising sales from international markets for Indian channels.

Saxena ventured into television with Zee in March 1996. Prior to that he had a stint with The Times of India Group and State Trading Corporation. He is a postgraduate in Business Management from IMT, Ghaziabad.
